Seed potatoes were cast offs and self seeded, so you don’t necessarily even need to purchase special seed potatoes. The secret is in the soil. Look after it, and it will pay you back in spades.
These were grown in a mound of recycled woodchip and homemade compost, with no fertiliser apart from homemade worm wee. Fantastic for starting a garden bed as you begin the process of quality soil building. Digging them out means you have to mix it up for a very good reason. Unless I grow spuds or root crops again, I won’t be tilling it any more, just adding to the top surface and letting the worms do the hard yards.
I will apologise for the Instagram beginning of the video, but I didn’t want to leave it out.
