A couple of days early! I must have an autumn in my step.
Very glad the rain has decided to visit with some gusto. The garden beds were overdue a good soaking.

The coming of Cyclone Alfred up north has speeded up the end of some of the summer crops. About 9 days of overcast grey weather and most of the bush beans, zucchini’s and watermelon completely gave up. I’m writing this on the third day of mid-30’s hot, humid conditions.
Well that’s it. Summer over with for another year and again I’m blown away by how quickly that change happens. No transition – hot weather one day, cool change overnight and that is it. The next three months is the sweet shoulder season spot and all action again before the dead of winter kicks in and things slow right down.
Funny what growing something for the first time does! Broccoli, for so long a dream, now a reality.
The first half of January was all the seasons in a fortnight, and the second half was what I would call bulk growing weather. Warm, rain, cloud and sun causing pumpkins and cherry tomatoes to explode and drown everything else, whilst grass infests every garden bed.
Let’s Grow Shopping would like to acknowledge the Dharug people whose custodianship of the land we temporarily live and grow food on remains, despite current land title laws. May their culture once more thrive in this place and influence us all towards a more just society in harmony with each other.
